I've had this basket laying around for years. Since we live by the ocean, I'm was sure it held thousands of clams at one time.  But lately I've heard others say it was a vintage egg basket. Whatever you call it, I've been thinking about creating a liner for it for a long time now and I came up with a great idea that can work for almost any basket. 

I've always loved the look of the Adirondack backpack baskets but I've never found one at a good price. Today... I'm going to show you how to fashion your own!

Today I'm repurposing an old project that was no longer serving our needs. I was looking around for a large basket to create a laundry bin for our basement laundry makeover and I came across a wire basket I had used for another DIY project.  

I've been MIA for a while because I've been busy moving two of my daughters into new apartments. 
One of our daughters moved an hour away and the other one moved a mile away. Our other 2 daughters live with their families about a mile away as well.  In case you are keeping track, that makes 4 daughters! 
To say there were, are, and will be a lot of DIY projects involved is an understatement. 
I have a great little project for you today! I'm using rebar wire that I have in my workshop to create a home for the garlic in my kitchen!

This weekend I found a beautiful one and while I could have left it as it was, I decided to make it even cuter with a stenciled design.

Here's an easy farmhouse update for a tired old thrift store basket. 

The old basket began life looking like this... 



It had great moveable handles but didn't have much else that made it special. Today I'm going to make it a little more awesome by using a simple flower stencil from Old Sign Stencils.


I taped the stencil to the basket and using a foam pouncer, stenciled using black paint onto the basket. Because of the rough basket weave, I needed to grab a small stiff brush and get down inside the weave with the black paint. 


When I removed the stencil, my basket was already looking great! 

My $2 thrift store basket was ready to fill with flowers and look so much better in just minutes.

This was the easiest and cheapest repurposed pumpkin  yet this season! 
It all began with this round, white tobacco basket from the dollar spot at Target. It was $3, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it when I bought it but I knew it would be good for something and the price was right! 

Do you know what a garden hod is? If you don't, I didn't either. 
I called it a basket, a basket to gather vegetables from the garden. Or a basket for eggs from the chicken coop.
As soon as I figured out what it was I was ready to make one of my own and with the pieces I found on the side of the road... today was the day!

What do you get when you cross a hanger  with a basket?

Sometimes I like to use alternatives to the traditional front door wreath.

I found the cutest metal basket set at the thrift store recently, they were rose gold looking baskets I thought were beautiful! 
Problem was that I used the basket to pick tomatoes from my garden this summer and the acid from the tomatoes ruined the basket. 
It ended up with spots where the acid removed the color. 
The only thing left to do with this pretty basket now was to repurpose it... 

When I saw this basket for sale on a popular website I knew this was something I could easily make!

I was bound and determined to find a use for these frames that were leftover from my daughter's wedding.
The wedding was 7years ago and today is the day and since it's getting close to Easter I had an idea.
These frames originally came from IKEA. You can find similar on Amazon or the dollar store.  
First, I removed the backings and the glass from the frames then glued and nailed the frames together in a square.



Before I was finished I also removed the points that held the glass into the frames. 
Next,  I cut a thin piece of plywood and nailed it to the bottom of the box. 

I added candle cups to use as feet and attached them to the bottom using E6000 glue.
Then the next step was to paint the box.

I bought these baskets from the Target dollar spot and repurposed them for my patio. 
They are almost like large berry baskets and will look beautiful when I'm finished. I began by finding the center of each basket by drawing a line from corner to corner using a ruler. 

Next, I drilled a hole into the center of each basket then put a double sided screw through the bottom. The double sided screw went into an old wooden base I had leftover from a repurposed ice bucket project.
