Stenciled Stuffed Tree Ornaments

This simple stuffed ornament project is so versatile! You can use just about any stencil, not just the cute tree stencil I used.  I used scrap fabric and the rest was easy...

First, I began with drop cloth or painter's cloth and a great stencil from Old Sign Stencils.

As you can see it's been well loved!

Drop cloth fabric is a neutral fabric with great texture and the best part is it is easy to find and very inexpensive!

I cut a piece of fabric and folded it in half.

At this point you may want to put a piece of parchment paper between the layers so you don't get any bleed through.

I only used the tree part but you could actually use all the parts of this stencil and decorate the tree.

I used craft paint and a fairly dry brush to swipe the paint from the stencil into the center of the tree.

Using this technique I am really accentuating the outer rim of the tree.

I only stenciled one side of my ornament but you could actually do both sides.

When the paint dried I cut the fabric closer to the tree design.

Next, using a piece of rebar wire, I made a loop and glued it inside my fabric layers at the top of the tree with hot glue.

I then went around both sides of the tree with hot glue and glued the sides together.

I left the bottom open then stuffed the tree with pillow stuffing.

If you are not selling these ornaments you could also use the stuffing from a washed bed pillow.

I hot glued the remaining edge closed.

Next, I went back around the tree with scissors and trimmed my edges and added a buffalo checked frayed ribbon

It was at this point that I decided to add red ornaments to my tree.

I used the eraser end of a pencil and just dotted red dots around my tree.

It certainly would have been easier if I had done it before I stuffed the tree. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Like I said you could also decorate the tree with the stencils that come with the Rustic Christmas Tree Stencil.

My stenciled ornaments are ready to hang on the tree!

That is if my tree was actually up yet!
