Painting a piece of furniture to match other pieces in the room can be a challenge.

Today I'm going to try something new.  I paint with Fusion Mineral Paint all the  time and I love it but today I'm trying a new product by Fusion. 

This painting is hanging in my kitchen over my farm table.

Not 50 shades but I bet I have your attention now! 

Storage is something you can never have enough of...
So when I pulled this old rusty cabinet with a lot of empty drawers out of my garage I knew it was my next project. 

It needed a good scrubbing so that was my first step. Next I had to remove the label from each drawer. 
When the clean up was finished I started to paint. I used Fusion Mineral Paint in Picket Fence on this project. I used a brush to brush on the paint. It gave me a smooth even coat.
The paint was sticking well especially because the finish on this cabinet was old and dull. 
If sticking was a problem I could use a little bonding agent and the paint would have no problem on shiny surfaces.
The rust spots in some areas began seeping through the paint so I used spray Bulls Eye Shellac on the top and sides of the piece then gave th…

The perfect white cupboard didn't start out that way. It was a Facebook purchase for a great price but the color was all wrong for my neutral home.

I painted my front door with Front Door Paint  by Modern Masters this morning!
I'll show you the before, the after,  and let you know how it went!  


I began by choosing a paint color from a rainbow of 24 beautiful colors that are based on the Emotional Color Wheel - and I decided to go wild! 



My front door has been green, red, and most recently... black.
Today I'm feeling sunny! 



I wanted a new look, something bold and beautiful. 

Something out of the box for me.

I chose bright yellow... "Optimistic" to be exact.

Modern Masters has this great phone app for both iPhone and Android that you can download. 

You just take a picture of your front door and  try out the colors on your own door to see how it would look.

This project is a wall art makeover.  I know, kinda strange but I've done it before and I'm doing it again. 
I'm creating a stenciled Christmas tree farm sign from an old painting that hung in my house. 
This project definitely had some challenges but the new stenciled Christmas sign looks great in my home now!

This is a fun story today...
I saw this beautiful vintage gold frame at the thrift store last week. It had a lot of damage and I thought it was fixable but it was full price and frankly... I don't do full price, especially on things I hope I can fix. 
The vintage gold frame had a matted Claude Monet print in it called The Water Lily Pond. This painting always reminds me of the three year old class that did their own versions of this painting when I was teaching preschool.

Wood, metal, wire, leather... what's not to like?

Painting outdoor metal furniture can be a real pain...

Just ask me because I've painted these pieces a few times already.
The last time I used a brush and painted them a beautiful light blue color. 
It took me forever to get around all those curves, both tops bottoms and inside the lacy design. 
I loved the color but I should have painted them white right from the beginning and now I know... I am all about the white!
Then there was the time before that it was a light green with a wooden top... gorgeous but don't ask!

On a recent trip to the craft store I saw this package of mushrooms that I thought would be adorable with a stick in them for my plants.  Problem was that they were about $10 and I'm a little cheap so I wanted to figure out how to make them myself.

I've been meaning to do this for a long time, painting this stained bench has been on the to-do list forever!

Actually... Oh what fun it is to repurpose! Especially when it is something headed to the trash and ends up to be fabulous!! 
Today I'm repurposing the second of 2 large canvas paintings my daughter was throwing away. 
I just love how it came out and I can't wait to hang it up for Christmas!

To say that I am skeptical about painting fabric with chalk paint is an understatement!
