Robin's Egg Blue Wooden Bowl

I am loving this beautiful new
speckled Robin's egg blue color for the Spring and it was purely a happy accident.

Sometimes a fail turns out to be gorgeous!

I began with a plain wooden bowl from the thrift store.

I'm painted only the inside for this project.

I thought about painting the inside white but had a better idea...

I tried a new Distressed Spray Stain in a color called Broken China Blue that I had in my workshop and was anxious to try.

The color wasn't what I wanted so I wiped it off... or so I thought.

When the bowl dried I decided to paint the bowl with Fusion Mineral Paint in Raw Silk.

Raw silk is a beautiful warm white.

Little did I know but the blue stain had leached into the wood and it mixed with the white paint when I painted the bowl.

I let the first coat dry, thinking it would seal before I gave the bowl another coat of Raw Silk.

The stain and the paint mixed again!

Ok it was meant to be!

The mixture of the stain and the white paint made a gorgeous Robin's egg blue color!

Purely by accident... I couldn't have made this beautiful color if I tried!

Next, I speckled it.

I used brown craft paint and a stiff brush to splatter brown paint into the bowl.

When the splatters were dry I gave the inside of the bowl a coat of Fusion Mineral Paint's Tough Coat as a sealer.

This bowl reminds me of the Robin's Egg Blue Speckled Mason Jars I made a while back.
