Stenciled Christmas Pouch

I've seen pouches that hang on hooks before and I love the look. I decided to create one for Christmas using drop cloth fabric and a stencil and I have the perfect place to hang it! 

First I started with drop cloth fabric. 

I've also found it at great prices at my local hardware store. 

Please pay attention to the bold blue words on this post for more information about Homeroad projects and the products I used to make this pouch.

I cut it into a rectangle using the seamed edge on top and frayed the edges. 

I am using one of my favorite Old Sign Stencils for this project. 

I've used this Christmas Tree stencil so many times already and it's still perfect! 

First I stenciled the trees using Bayberry by Fusion Mineral Paint. 

I used a small amount of paint on my stencil brush then lightly tapped the brush onto the fabric. 

Next, I stenciled the words Christmas and Trees.

I stenciled the words on top of the green trees. 

I folded another piece of the drop cloth fabric in half and matched it to the size of the frayed fabric. 

The doubled piece will be my backing fabric. 

Next, I hot glued a thin piece of drop cloth fabric into a tube for the handles. 

I cut the tube into 2 pieces then hot glued them into the corner of my backing fabric with Sure Bonder fabric hot glue and glued them to the top corners.  

I then glued around three sides of the pouch leaving the top open. 

That's it! 

I tied a piece of jute around one handle for decoration. 

Of course you could stencil anything on your pouch and use it year round or for another holiday. 

The board and batten wall by my front door is the perfect place to hang this cute pouch and fill it with Christmas greens and pinecones.
